About me

Dear company, I started to learn Korean language & culture in Korean Language & Culture Faculty of Moscow State University. After graduation I had working experience in such company as RIA News Agency (https://ria.ru/) where I published article news about Korea but this work was only internship program so after 2 month I get new job in Korean company – LOTTE Trading (Moscow representative office). Working in LOTTE I really wanted to know more about Korean people and their country so I decided to continue my studies and get Master's degree in Korea. Finally I lived in Korea about 11 years and Korea became my new homeland since the moment of my marriage with lovely Korean woman and the birth of my beautiful daughter. However, due to personal family reasons, I had to return to Moscow in 2016. Personal pros For my opinion to be successful in global business the company must understand overseas cultures & languages and develop business strategy based on it. This opinion is based on my working experience in Korean & Russian companies. Companies which don't realize this fact can't be successful in global business. I analyze the whole situation about company products and services from the standpoint of ordinary customer, not service supplier without reference to specific business area. I could perfectly organize communication process between me and my colleagues and develop the link between various departments of whole company. For example, when I worked in SK Encar (Korean used car export business), I knew what models are popular in Russia and its cost in Russia. I also knew where I can buy required cars for the Russian market at a reasonable price for its resale. However, many Korean companies didn't know the Russian car market and relied only on their intuition in the choice of cars for export. In other words, they think that if these cars (models) are popular in Korea, than these models are popular everywhere... As a result, they have failed in global business cause they ignored buyers culture and preferences in other countries. Another example, when I worked in LOTTE Department Store (Korea) and in LOTTE PLAZA in Moscow, my duties included, in addition to brand and lease management in LOTTE Department Store (LOTTE PLAZA, Moscow branch), assistance in finding a common language between the leaders of the Korean and Russian sides. The main difficulty was the difference in cultures regarding shopping: store location method in the department store, fashion, concept of the department as a whole, etc. Korean executives in LOTTE Department Store perfectly knew and understood the cultural barriers, and that’s why they recruited me. Personal cons I think my weak point is severity of choosing the only and right viewpoint between different colleague's opinions. So far as I realize this fact, I'm constantly trying to improve my understanding of the whole situation and my skills in picking the right decision. Goal So far as I perfectly understand Far East countries cultures and have working experience in Russian and Korean companies, I could be the connecting "bridge" between these two countries. That's why I realize that I could be useful for your company. Many foreign companies are already successful and popular in Russia, CIS countries and all over the world. However these companies still need to develop & upgrade its products and services to retain the business reputation. That's why my goal is to help the development of brand new and successful business image of your company and its transformation to the global leader in worldwide business industry. Also I realize my necessity in process of helping my colleagues to understand the global culture and worldwide business processes. Thank you for your attention! My best regards, Maxim Tkachenko
